Going green is all the rage right now, from your car to your food to your house to your shopping to your vacations. Did you know that Kohl's department stores in California are using solar energy? Did you know there are 2 million plastic beverage bottles used hourly in the United States? Did you know a Mini Cooper S convertible is a big gas guzzler? Did you know Philips is manufacturing green flatscreen TVs? (check out TreeHugger for more)
What have you done lately to enhance the environment?
I don't want to start a guilt-fest here, but God did put man(kind) in charge of the world, and over the centuries, we haven't done such a hot job. There are a lot of little things we can do to enhance the world and to make it a safer and better place, from using the right kind of diapers to planting a garden to driving our vehicles less. Even just getting out and appreciating nature helps--take a hike, play in a stream or climb a tree and birdwatch. You don't take care of something you don't have a stake in, so get familiar with the earth!

I don't have a lot of time to blog myself, but I will comment.
When we chose to do cloth diapers, it was a financial thing, but now I am so glad that we can help out the environment with our own little part! Yes, at times it is ABSOLUTELY disgusting, but it's not an insurmountable odd to overcome.
How often, Ruhama, we are not good stewards of the world we were born to. My mom used cloth diapers when I was growing up. It was an "unpleasant" experience for her, but one that, of course and gratefully, was just a phase. : )
BTW, I have some Amish Friendship Bread sourdough starter which I am happy to share with you. I have already successfully baked with it. It has been making the rounds among food bloggers for the last month or so. You are under no obligation to take it or pass it on, but I'm happy to hold aside a cup of it with instructions for use if you are interested or have the time. You can email me at thewellseasonedcook AT yahoo DOT com.
Just catching up with you, friend! Sounds like you are staying plenty busy even without a full-time job!
We are switching to florescent bulbs but they are a pain! They make noise and the ones we got are not bright at all - makes me feel like I'm in a cave. Ugh. Have to try some more powerful ones and see if they are better...
Hope to see you this weekend at Homecoming!
Love,
Jen
I grew up on cloth diapers, too, and remember vividly that we sometimes had to check the toilet before flushing to make sure there wasn't one in there soaking! Yech.
I'm so glad to hear you all are doing a little something to make this world last a little longer!
