vinic

Well, it's been a long time, but our wine club met again last night, and the wine this time was Chardonnay. We hosted and did more of an appetizer spread than a full meal--there still was plenty to eat, though! The cheese variety alone was impressive. :yum:

The last time we met was in December, and even then I couldn't go, as I caught a nasty head cold, so I haven't been for ages (Chip did go and took pictures for me)! Then a couple couples had babies, then we had some scheduling issues, and suddenly it was May. So, everything was just put on hold until we could meet again--I don't know if the every month idea is going to continue to work out, but I guess we'll have to see.

And here's something fun we got to use for the first time--Chip and I found official covers for the wines, so when tasting we aren't swayed by winery, price or region:

Overall, this was a great way to enjoy friends, food and good wine. It's almost like 'the good old days' when folks had dinner parties and such (like the timeperiod of the book I recommend below), but without the division of classes.
We had the right sized group for this month!

Book recommendation: Rose: My Life in Service by Rosina Harrison
Recipe recommendation: Smoked Chicken with Mango and Mint
Wine recommendation: Kendall Jackson Chardonnay
