We've been trying to decide on a headboard for a while, but couldn't find exactly what we were imagining. At first we thought something metal would be perfect, but the ones we saw were either wrong color, had too much room between posts or just didn't grab our fancy.
So we started exploring DIY headboard sites and saw a few wooden ones that were pretty nifty. But still, nothing jumped out and said 'this is it!' so we kept looking.
Then an issue of Pottery Barn came that had a headboard that I immediately loved. It was expensive, though, so we started keeping our eye out for shutters all the same height and at prices that wouldn't break the bank. A recent trip to Mt. Horeb provided success! And we now have a headboard.

lovely! and your glass lamps are beautiful too! this reminds me of a project i did in college where i made a room divider using a bunch of old, mis-matched doors. i loved that thing, but man, was it heavy and a pain to move!
So excited for you! That is a very fine piece of craftsmanship. I love DIY, especially with salvage. Your bedroom is very stylish. The color of the headboard is so tranquil yet compelling.
Sweet dreams to you and Chip.
haha--and you like how our (unmade) bed compares to the magazine? We like to keep it real...
