I hosted book club for November: we had a choice to read anything by Robert Alexander, an author who has written several historical fiction titles about Russia. This  meant my snacks were going to be along the lines of a zakuski, though not nearly as big. And I didn't include anything fishy. And I don't have a samovar, which would have been awesome. Oh, and there wasn't any vodka served.

Black Bread (Chorni Chleb)
Moldavian Marinated Peppers (Ardei à la Moldova)
Spiced Feta (Brinza)

Open Cheese Tartlets (Vatrushki)
Tea
Coffee

Cranberry Kvass

They're supposed to be like a cheese Danish, but not as sweet. Or, not as sweet as Americans make Danishes. ;)
